HPAC DE Internet Software
HPAC DE is the new on line data entry system from House of Images which provides access to data and images from any computer with internet access. This means that those with the necessary permissions can access, edit and add data and images from any internet computer. This is ideal for organisations with geographically disparate sites which may need to pool and share their resources since the system can be administered and accessed from anywhere. New database records and images can be instantly added to the front end web site by both the administrator and authorised users.
HPAC DE provides multi level access which gives an administrator the tools to provide password controlled access at field level allowing data entry operators to be given permissions to enter metadata in selected fields within sub-sets of data.
HPAC DE conforms to all the requirements of the Dublin Core initiative and can also be set up to conform to the requirements of SPECTRUM museum standard.
The benefits of using HPAC DE include the following:
1. No additional internal IT resource is required as HPAC DE is hosted on managed secure servers and House of Images provide the neccessary skills to maintain the application. All data is encrypted to provide maximum security.
2. No dedicated hardware is needed to run the system
3. There is no software to install internally and administrators can control the system from any PC.
4. All software upgrades/changes are installed by House of Images, normally without disruption.
5. Data back ups can be provided by House of Images, the system allows the administrator to provide their own back ups in a variety of formats.
6. The House of Images system offers considerable performance benefits over an application installed on a WAN which can have slow delivery speeds compared to connecting to the internet.
7. HPAC DE uses the standard MySQL database platform.
8. Data can be exported from HPAC DE in a number of formats including XML and CSV.
9. All data is totally secure with access controlled by the system administrator.
10. Data can be imported into HPAC DE in a variety of formats.
11. No specialist skills are required by users and House of Images provide all necessary training.
12. Every action is auditable, the audit trail can be exported to a separate file for recovery if preferred.
Xansys
(Media Asset Management)
Xansys
is HoIs fourth generation windows imaging system, written
in Java and available on NT (all variations), Unix, Solaris, MAC
etc. XML has been used for data formatting and data storage. This
solution is an Internet based package, incorporating video capture,
multimedia, presentations, text, photographic images etc into a
database, working with a number of operating systems. HoIs
solution is an example of encompassing the latest advances in technology
with existing systems, thereby enabling customers to utilize a product,
which will be capable of advancing with time.
Xansys
provides organization, integration and highly developed technology
to all your applications.
A strong
feature of Xansys is the in-built Security Level:
- Each
field can have its own security level / or have a high level
set as a default.
- A
field can only be changed through relevant security password input.
- Every
move is auditable. The audit trail can be exported to a
separate file for separate recovery, if preferred.
- Single
Step Security is another key feature of the package i.e. The
security level indicates what security is imposed on each field,
in the system. This can be as flexible / adaptable as you like.
- There
is an obvious Log-in to the system (List file
drop down lists to add from).
-
The data entry screen, taken from nominal data
fields, can be subdivided into as many pages as you wish. The
data structures are extremely flexible with XML programming. Initially,
the user can group all the data entries to a single
/ specific page and in the future, incorporate any changes,
as and when required. This also provides the user with the foundations
to develop the product (in any direction) as the organization
grows, providing them with the flexibility to continue with archiving
collection(s).
- Integration
to external applications
Integration to an image scanner, Web Cam, video input etc has
been catered for. Xansys is able to store mpeg movies, pdf files.
Media files can be jpeg, video etc. These can be stored as thumbprints
e.g. 12 to a screen. Also, these can be increased or decreased
depending on numbers required, for viewing, and also with consideration
to the visually impaired. The data can be viewed alongside the
image, if required (see above).
Xansys works in conjunction with any other product. This solution
is web based, inline with technological advances. HoI is able
to integrate Xansys to any e-mail solution, in order that images
be e-mailed on/off site e.g. for completion of specific projects
related to themes / historical eras etc. Similarly Xansys is able
to integrate to a fax solution to allow the images to be transmitted
off site.
- Supporting
future development for your requirements
This solution will develop alongside your requirements, for the
foreseeable future; as you will be able to add any type of information
to it and further re-sequence and re-present the information without
changing the structure and database. The
images can be stored in any format e.g. tiff, pdf, gif, html,
jpeg, txt. Integration to existing and new viewers has been catered
for. Basic viewers e.g. txt, html, jpeg are incorporated.
Xansys is an open ended solution i.e. It can be extended
in any direction and further developed to add new features and
bring in new technologies.
Xansys allows for complete organization i.e. there is one central
place to go to view images / collection(s), also satellite
branches can access data using the Internet / from website address(es). The Public Access Module(s) can be utilized to sell images over the Internet, from terminals placed on-site.
